CDC Learning Connection: National Environmental Education Week is April 10-16, 2012

Where the public health community goes to learn
Dear Colleague:
April 10-16th, 2012 is National Environmental Education Week (NEEW). In support of NEEW, CDC Learning Connection is focusing on Environmental Health for its spotlight. This spotlight features environmental health-related learning products and resources for the public health community to maintain and improve the health of the American people.
Learning products featured on the spotlight include
  • Environmental Public Health Online Courses — a series of 15 modules from the South Central Partnership providing access to comprehensive, worthwhile, and affordable workforce development resources for practitioners; these courses are also available through CDC TRAIN

  • Case Studies in Environmental Medicine — designed to increase primary care providers’ knowledge of hazardous substances and aid in the evaluation of patients potentially exposed to hazards substance; offers continuing education

  • Environmental Assessment of Foodborne Illness Outbreaks — a brand new course from CDC, EHS-NET grantees, the US FDA, and the USDA, providing training on how to use a systems approach in foodborne-illness-outbreak environmental assessments (FIOEASs)
Resources featured in the spotlight come from a variety of sources including CDC and
  • Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease Registry (ATSDR)
  • National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF)
  • National Environmental Health Association (NEHA)
  • United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
